In The Balance

by Tammarah G Davis

I walked along the darkened streets,
Sensing the evil, this is where we meet.
I prepare for a battle, long and hard,
My body and soul hold many scars.

What shall I do to survive this fight,
Pray and hope with all my might.
Tonight I stand completely alone,
My emotions more like a rock or stone.

I am the one who comes to save,
My soul to light I willingly gave.
I have shed the blood of many a foe,
With fear the darkness will forever grow.

I stand atop a pillar high,
Watching with awe, the night sky.
Show me now where I must go,
Where the river doeth flow.

I know you now, can see you clear,
Hear my words, you demon -- FEAR.
I am the warrior of your nightmare,
I have come to face your fatal stare.

You cannot defeat me for I am right,
The color of my side is bright WHITE.
I am the wielder of the sword,
Return to Hell, you and your evil horde.

I am the victor, as was told,
By both the young and very old.
So the stories of heroes have grown,
Yet in the balance we all stand alone.
